Retro Slam Jam #3 is the penultimate issue of Wrestling Alliance Entertainment's flagship old-school television show. In this episode you'll be dazzled by the tag team of Buck Stone & Dean McClintock, intimidated by the British Brawler Rupert Granshire, scared to your core by the giant Hugh Mongo and brought to the edge of your seat by a gauntlet match featuring Big Joe against the Gentry Group.
"Olneyville System Special EP" is the debut release of Dougie Poole, a musician and songwriter living in Brooklyn, New York. Coming of age in Providence, his background was in heavier music before maturing into a country artist. He tries to write earnestly about his experience (life in the big city, heartbreak in the digital age) and approaches country as an experimental music form, rather than one that seeks to preserve tradition, as it often does. When he isn't playing music Doug works as a professional art handler and a truck driver delivering vegan spreads.
The EP features three songs chronicling love, drugs, adventure and indulgence, culminating at Providence's Olneyville New York System hot dog restaurant. Released digitally, you can purchase the tracks online or get them along with "Olneyville System Special" artbook featuring 8 full-color surrealist Western landscapes by painter and cartoonist Clayton Schiff. "Olneyville System Special" is published by JMC Aggregate, who is also releasing Doug's full length "Wideass Highway" on February 17th. To buy a copy of Olneyville you can preorder on Bandcamp, purchase at the release show on September 22nd at the Manhattan Inn or at any of Doug's dates on his upcoming tour with Still Corners.

Retro Slam Jam #2 is yet another episode from everyone’s favorite early-90s regional wrestling promotion, Wrestling Alliance Entertainment. See Big Joe call out the Gentry Group, Wrench Gibbs begin his path of destruction through the WAE roster, and a classic match between Wolf & Gator and the team of the Dominator and the Death Master for the WAE Tag Team Championship. Written and drawn by Blake Sims, Retro Slam Jam is a 4 issue series.
You can order Retro Slam Jam #2 here or pick it up IN PERSON from me at any of the cons I am going to be at this fall! You can find me at SPX at table i11A with Hazel Newlevant this upcoming weekend in Bethesda, Maryland. OR you can find me at Paper Jam 6 October 1st at Silent Barn. OR you can find me at CAB November 5th at Mt. Camel Gymnasium.
On November 4th I am publishing a shared release with two of my favorite artists, Sophia Foster-Dimino and gobbinjr. Collectively, this will be called vom night, and it will feature a mini-comic by Sophia and a digitally released EP by gobbinjr. Today Stereogum profiled Emma (gobbinjr) in their “Artist To Watch” series and premiered the first track from the release, “firefly”.
